The Maine Medical Association has made physician voluntary work, both in Maine and overseas, a major focus. The following is a list of free medical clinics.

Ellsworth Free Medical Clinic

This clinic offers free services to the uninsured including physician exams, basic lab testing and x-rays, routine health care, assistance programs, and social services.

Call for appointment. Will see individuals from anywhere without insurance.

Knox County Health Clinic

The Knox Clinic offers low cost medical, dental, prescription assistance, and mental health care to the uninsured and under-insured in Knox County and border towns of Waldoboro and Lincolnville. Care is provided by volunteer physicians, dentists, nurses, social workers and other personnel.

The Knox Clinic is located at 22 White Street, Rockland, Maine.

The Dental Clinic is located at 1019 Commercial St. Rockport, Maine.

Leavitt’s Mill Health Center

This health center offers p hysicals (check-ups) including preventive medicine, h ealthy lifestyle counseling/education – (such as Diabetic Teaching, nutrition and exercise), well woman visits, sick visits (illness or minor injuries), chronic illness management (such as Diabetes, Asthma, High Blood Pressure), h elp with life problems (such as weight problems, smoking cessation), dental hygiene and dental care for existing clinic patients, p hysical therapy, off site eye exam referrals, prescription assistance (non-narcotic medications), c ase management and h elp with medications and supplies, or other medical services at low or no cost

Hours of care: Patient and intake visits are by appointment only. We are not a walk in health center, please call 207-929-6455 to schedule an appointment. CLOSED DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER AND HOLIDAYS.

Maine Migrant Health Program

This program has mobile clinics that go out and provide medical care (sliding fee scale), health education, case management, and transportation to migrant seasonal workers in Maine. It also offers a voucher referral program.

Peninsula Free Health Services (Clinic)

Provides free health services to the uninsureds on the Blue Hill Peninsula and surrounding area. Three credentialed doctors, 4-5 RNs, PAs, FUP, EMT, and 10 non-medical - all volunteers. There is one Business Manager/Fundraising Consultant 2-3 days/week paid.

The Root Cellar

Adult Free Medical Clinic

Thursday mornings starting at 9:00am, by appointment only.

A volunteer medical doctor and nurse are here each week to see scheduled patients for a variety of medical needs. The clinic is authorized to write prescriptions and offer referrals. They are affiliated with Mercy Hospital.

Pediatric Clinic

Thursday evenings starting at 5:45pm, by appointment only.

A volunteer medical doctor and nurses come in each week to see scheduled patients for a variety of medical needs including a child wellness clinic. This clinic is for children with no insurance or with only catastrophic insurance. The clinic can provide necessary vaccines for your child. They are associated with Mercy Hospital.This clinic provides primary care services and some specialty care services. They also help patients get the medicine that they need.
